The Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia has a regulatory and supervisory authority over civil aviation industry. Its priority is to provide the conditions for safe and secure air transport operations in accordance with the international standards. Activities within that field are based on regulations, ratified international agreements and international standards.

In accordance with the Air Transport Law, the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia is committed to regulating aviation safety, security, airspace, application of technical and economic requirements, inspection, search and rescue, and the investigation of accidents and incidents. The role of the Safety Oversight Division is to develop a safe aviation environment in conjunction with the aviation industry, encouraging continual advancement in that field in Serbia, in cooperation with the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). More

The Air Navigation Services Division is responsible for drafting of by-laws in the field of Air Traffic Management and oversees their implementation by Air Traffic Services, i.e.: area, terminal and airport control services, flight information services ,air traffic flow management, communications, navigation and radar systems and devices as well as meteorological services. International relations
In the area of international relations and integrations the activities of the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia are aimed at:
1) Cooperation with the European Commission in the field of civil aviation (European integrations);
2) Cooperation with the international aviation organizations and other forms of multilateral cooperation; 3) Bilateral cooperation; 4) Overflight permissions More
Through the revision of national protocols and harmonisation with the demands of JAA Europe, as a fully-fledged member of that aviation family encompassing 44 European countries, the Civil Aviation Directorate has agreed to bring the national aviation in compliance with European standards thus make Serbian aviation an integral part of the European and World aviation area.
